Preparing for Congregational Worship

Psalm 84:1-2 talks about the longing heart of a worshiper to worship in God’s presence with God’s people.  The Psalmist says, “How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty. My soul yearns, even faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and flesh cry out for the living God.”  One of the ways we can cultivate this kind of yearning and passion for God when we come together on Sunday mornings is by preparing our hearts to worship ahead of time. We’ve put together a number of resources to help you prepare either on Saturday night or Sunday morning.  Anything from a guide to confessing sin, to meditating on Scripture, to reading a devotional from great spiritual thinkers. These resources are simple ways to start pursuing God in a more intentional way. Don’t feel like you need to try everything all at once. Just pick one resource a week and begin to engage with God.
